How serious is the situation of Family Violence you are dealing with? There are two things you can do but the first step would be filing a police report. You can either
1. Request a Protective Order – This will prevent the offender from committing further acts of violence and if he/she does, will be prosecuted by law
2. Magistrates Order for Emergency Protection – This is more of an urgent form of a protective order which imposes more restrictions on the offender including increased penalties shall any of the terms be violated.
