Question:

I wanted to play a practical joke on April Fool's by telling the bus driver that I plan to place an explosive near the bus later that week.  Can I be charged with a felony under Missouri law?

Answer:

Under section 578.310 of the Missouri Statutes, it is unlawful for any individual at any time to bomb or to place or plant any explosive thing or matter, such as a bomb near or upon any bus or terminal where people are present or being transported, or where there is being shipped or prepared for shipment or stored any merchandise, wares, goods or anything of value.  Anyone who violates this law is guilty of a class A felony. Threatening to commit this offense is an example of class C felony missouri.  A class C felony carries a maximum term of imprisonment of ten years.  The act of discharging a firearm or launching a missile into, at, and/or upon any terminal, bus, or other transportation system constitutes a class B felony.
