We were out at the clubs in Austin, TX and were walking around looking for a place to eat afterwards. Me and my friends were pretty drunk and sorta rowdy, and I don't remember exactly what happend, but some police officers approached us. All of us complied for the most part, but one of my wilder friends (wild when hes drunk at least, otherwise not with no prior criminal record), ended up running away from the cops, eventually getting caught, beat, then booked. What type of charges is he looking forward to?

Answer: (1)
Resisting arrest and assault and battery are somewhat along the same lines. Here is a list of state statutes with punishments for both listed by state. Punishment for Resisting Arrest Statutes by State. Luckily you guys live in Texas. Resisting arrest on foot with no weapons, or prior conviction, is considered as only a misdemeanor. If he was in a vehicle however, it would then be considred a felony.
However, he is possibly going to face some brief jail time and surely pay some fines. It would be advisable he speak with an attorney to get the jail time siginifcantly reduced by serving some other form as punishment in place such as community service.
