I just realized my identity was stolen last week. I’m in the claims process with the police and my financial institution but I don’t know if I’ll be able to recover any of this lost money and fraudulent charges. Should I hire a Lawyer?

For most identity theft claims, you can usually just file a police report, contact the credit bureaus, and all your financial intuitions. Depending on the agreements for identity theft protection with your FI’s, you may not have to pay back any of the charges. How much did they amount up to? They typically cover up to a certain limit.
However, it would not be a bad idea to speak to an identity theft lawyer in an effort to track down the culprits and receive compensation for the lost damages you’ve incurred. Best of luck to you.
