Question:

I am a Piano teacher that teaches piano lessons to young students. I have been doing this over 15 years and I have never had any type of criminal violation before. One of the young students and their mother is accusing me of child molestation and threatening to file charges. I have not done anything! What can I do?

Answer: (1)

Child Molestation is taken very seriously in all states and is considered along the lines of Sexual Assault. How old is the Child and what exactly happened for them to accuse you of molestation? How many different occasions of “molestation” or “lewd sexual behavior” are they accusing of? Many states consider each sexual act as a felony count, each with up to 8 years in jail. Thus, if you are accused of three or four different occasions, you can potentially serve up to 25 years in jail, not to mention fines up to $100,000-$500,000. The family would want to sue as much as they could for damages as well.

Considering you have a clear criminal record and no previous similar charge, that already puts you in a strong defense stance. You should immediately consult with a Child Molestation Lawyer, or Criminal Defense Attorney, to help you ward off this charge you are potentially facing as it is extremely serious.

Good luck with everything.
