East Hampton Man Pleads Guilty to Federal Meth Production Charge

US Department of Justice, Jan 09, 2007

Kevin J. O’Connor, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that Sean K. Canterbury, age 34, formerly of 5 Bellevue Street, East Hampton, Connecticut, waived indictment and pleaded guilty today before United States District Judge Christopher F. Droney in Hartford to one count of possession of pseudoephedrine with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine.

According to documents filed with the Court and statements made in court, on June 8, 2005, Canterbury was arrested at his residence when federal, state and local law enforcement agents arrived to execute a federal search warrant. In pleading guilty, Canterbury admitted that, on that date, he knowingly possessed, or aided and abetted in the possession of, a quantity of pseudoephedrine with the intent to manufacture methamphetamine.

Judge Droney has scheduled sentencing for March 23, 2007, at which time Canterbury faces a maximum term of imprisonment of 20 years and a fine of up to $250,000.

Canterbury has been incarcerated since November 2005.

U.S. Attorney O’Connor praised the cooperative efforts of the Drug Enforcement Administration, East Hampton Police Department and Connecticut State Police who investigated this matter.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Brian P. Leaming.
