Hartford Police Make Three criminal Arrest Charges On Illegal Firearms
(Hartford) - Continuing it's focus of getting guns off Hartford streets Hartford Police arrested three individuals on illegal firearms charges over the past two days.
Eric Perez, DOB 2/20/76, AKA Eric Cruz, of 274 Farmington Avenue, Hartford was arrested at 190 Farmington Avenue by HPD Officers Jon Sherwood and Pedro Rivera. Perez was charged with Criminal Possession of a Pistol, Unlawful Discharge of a Gun, Carrying a Pistol without a Permit, Assault in the first Degree of a victim over 60 (two counts), Possession of Narcotics, Possession of a Controlled Substance within 1,500 feet of a School, Possession With Intent to Sell (PWITS), Criminal Impersonation, and Risk of Injury. Perez was booked at HPD Headquarters at approximately 8:00 p.m. with bond set at $300,000.
At approximately 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2005, HPD Officer Brenon Plourde arrested Elias Claudio, DOB 5/24/85, of 10 Congress Street, Hartford on charges of Carrying a Pistol without a Permit, Carrying Weapons in a Vehicle, and Breach of the Peace in the Second Degree. Claudio, of 65 Wayland Street, Hartford, was booked at HPD Headquarters on a $150,000 bond.
On August 13, 2005, Hartford Police Warrant Officer Richard Lopa served an outstanding Hartford Police Department arrest warrant on Derek J. Schumann, DOB 1/29/82, of 59 Sharren Lane, Enfield. Schumann, who was served with the outstanding arrest warrant at 101 Lafayette Street, Hartford, is charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm and Failure to Appear in the First Degree. Schumann remains in custody on a $300,100 cash bond.
HPD Assistant Chief Mark Pawlina, Chief of Detectives, in commenting on the arrests, said "These arrests typify the resolve of the HPD to rid our streets of guns and those individuals responsible for the gun violence fueled by illegal drug activity."
