Question:

What happens if I'm arrested for selling meth?

Answer:

Possessing, manufacturing, or selling methamphetamines is a felony, and the penalties are severe. Federal penalties for meth trafficking are:

  • 5 and 40 years  for 5 grams or more of actual methamphetamine (or 50 grams of a mixture containing it)
  • 10 years to life in prison for 50 or more grams of actual methamphetamine (or 500 grams of a mixture containing it)

If the crime resulted in a serious injury or death, the minimum prison time increases to 20 years, and the maximum is life in prison.  Fine can be as high as $2 million.
