Victim Of Identity Theft

If you have become a victim of identity theft, you are certainly not alone. There are literally 10 million people per year in the United States alone that have their identity take and used in some illegal or fraudulent manner, and there are likely many more that don't even realize they are at risk. Identity theft is most commonly seen in issues such as credit card fraud, thefts from bank, social security fraud and even applications for loans or mortgages that are fraudulently filed. In almost half of all reported cases the victims are unaware of how the thieves got their personal information, while about twenty-five percent of those reporting indicate their wallets or purses had been stolen prior to the illegal use of their information. Another common form of identity theft is stealing from the mail, which can also become a felony theft in itself, however the victims are unlikely to know this has happened under normal circumstances.
