Vehicular manslaughter is also known as vehicular homicide. What is vehicular manslaughter? It is when a death of a human being occurs either because of someone who is either guilty of negligence in driving a vehicle, or someone is driving a car while they are at the same time committing an act that is unlawful, but is not a felony. The act could be speeding, reckless driving, or drunk driving. Vehicular manslaughter is sometimes charged as a misdemeanor, and sometimes as a felony, depending of course on the circumstances. Vehicular manslaughter caused by drunk driving is generally charged as a felony. Vehicular manslaughter caused by either negligence or speeding will most likely be charged as a misdemeanor. All of the United States have statutes for vehicular manslaughter except for Alaska, Arizona, and Montana. What these statutes do is make any vehicle into a potential deadly weapon.
