Testimony

A testimony is evidence given in a courtroom while under oath. Testimonies can also be given in offices or other areas where legal representation is present. Testimonies can only be given by competent witnesses. To be considered competent a witness must have the ability to be understood and to also understand what is going on around them — the court proceedings. The testimony a person gives cannot be based on supposition or hearsay; all testimony is based on factual information. It is helpful to have a lawyer or legal professional help organize your testimony. A detailed and coherent testimony will have a much bigger impact on the judge and jury. First, make a list of everything you know about what you will be asked. Prepare possible answers to numerous questions and attempt to think out of the box. If you are working with a lawyer he or she will prepare you by asking you questions meant to foreshadow the ones that will be asked at trial.
