A terrorist is a person who threatens or acts upon a threat to commit violence and terrorize another person or group of people. The term terrorist has become a part of the American lexicon and is even recognized and used by children. A terrorist has a reckless disregard for others and revels in commotion and drama caused by his actions. In many cases a terrorist is involved with a larger group, a terrorist cell, or a religious or political group. According to experts, a person is a terrorist if he makes a threat to commit violence against persons or property hoping to cause fear, injury, public upset or uprising, or interrupt activities, events, and daily lives. America has implemented the Department of Homeland Security to deal directly with terrorist threats. However, each state still has individual laws regarding terrorist actions. A national warning system has also been put in place to let all American know if a terrorist attack is eminent. Even with all of these measures in place it is still important for everyone to be aware of the people around them for their own safety.
