Smuggling

Trafficking and smuggling are used interchangeably in terms of the law. The terms mean to knowingly transport items (or even people) into areas that the law does not allow them. Examples of smuggling include transporting people across the border of country illegally or transporting certain items to a prison inmate. Stolen goods and drugs are two of the most common items that are smuggled. Weapons trafficking are also quite common. Goods and people can be smuggled in many different ways. The items in question can be hidden in a vehicle. They can also be hidden on a ship in cargo containers and even on planes. With drug trafficking, many people attempt to hide narcotics inside certain body cavities. Punishments vary according to the types of things that are being smuggled.
