Sentence Aggravated Assault

Getting a felony sentence, aggravated assault or aggravated battery, is going to significantly impact on your future. Not only will you have a permanent felony charge on your record, there will be many employment, education and training options that will not longer be open to you because of these serious charges. Aggravated assault is any intent or actual assault that causes significant bodily injury, often including permanent disabilities, disfigurement or gross bodily harm, typically with the use or presence of a deadly weapon. Since this is a type of assault, actual physical injury doesn't need to happen, just the presence of the weapon and a threat or verbal intent statement may be enough for aggravated charges. This can include pointing a gun and threatening to shoot someone, even if there are no shots fired or no actual physical contact between the individuals. Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, particularly a firearm, will result in the most serious penalties being imposed, even for a first offense.
