Restraining Order

A restraining order is used as a form of protection. It can be issued by the courts. The person that is requesting the order can be a victim of violence, abuse or have a fear of pain or injury from the person they are requesting it issued to. Stalking is another reason that restraining orders are commonly issued. When someone is requesting a restraining order through the courts they must give either a work address or home address of the person that they want the order issued against. A restraining order can be issued against people that the person has dated or even a family member. When a person receives notice of a restraining order it means that they are not to engage in certain activities (abuse or other types of negative behaviors) or go within a certain distance of the person that has requested the protection. If they violate the order, they can be arrested and taken to jail.
