Petty Crime

A petty crime, is considered a misdemeanor in any court of law in the United States. These crimes are minor, such as traffic violations, trespassing, or a minor theft. Disturbing the peace, public intoxication, driving while intoxicated (as long as no one is hurt) being a public nuisance, and simple assault and battery are also considered as petty crime. Petty crime is better known in some states as a misdemeanor. A few petty crimes have the distinction of being charged as either a petty crime or a felony. With some petty crimes, the location and the circumstances of the crime can help to make a difference in the outcome of the case. Usually, a petty crime simply calls for a fine, or in some cases, a stay in the county jail for a period of up to one year.
