Parole

Parole is the restrictive release of a prisoner serving time. This release takes place after only a part of the prisoner's sentence has been served. Parole allows the prisoner to re-enter society for a specified period of time. This all takes place while the prisoner is still under the supervision of the parole board. In effect, the parolee is still serving a prison sentence. If the parolee does not follow the rules set forth before the parole took place, then he or she will be violating the conditions of the parole. Conditions of parole can include the obvious like obeying the law and keep in regular contact with your parole officer, but they can also be more specific. Sixteen of the United States have done away with parole entirely. There are many in America who that parole for violent offenders is too dangerous.
