Murder Sentencing

Murder sentencing is the name given to the punishment for people who have committed and been convicted of murder. Most states have their own laws and ways of dealing with murder sentencing, but in general, there are three types of sentencing that are used in the United States today. There is first-degree murder, premeditated and intentional. There is second-degree murder, or voluntary manslaughter. This type of murder is usually due to high emotions and crimes of passions. Second-degree murder sentencing also takes place when a murder happens while another crime is being committed. Third degree murder is also known as involuntary manslaughter in some areas. This is when a murder takes place, but the act was not necessarily intended to be the result of the crime that was committed. A person who is responsible for the murder of another, and who has a vicious dog he had been warned about, would be guilty of third degree murder if his dog attacked and killed a neighbor. This person would receive murder sentencing as appropriate for this crime.
