Juvenile Trespassing

Trespassing is a common crime among juveniles. Arrests and citations can include: A student who returns to a school after being suspended or expelled; Trespassing on private property for parties or gathering; Refusing to leave an establishment after being asked to leave repeatedly. Most often juvenile trespassing does not result in an arrest. Often authorities will call the juveniles parents and issue a citation. Even if the child is taken to the county jail or police station, trespassing is a misdemeanor and even for adults, there is no jail time involved in most circumstances. Felony trespassing charges can be filed if the juvenile stays at a private place after been told repeatedly to leave. If the trespassing is a felony, the juvenile may be required to spend some time in a juvenile detention facility. The sentence may also include community service. Juvenile records are sealed and in most cases the arrest or citation will not be part of the juvenile’s public record.
