Imprisonment

The act of divesting an individual of their independence of movement by holding them against their will in a restricted space is known as imprisonment. Imprisonment can be both lawful and unlawful. Lawful imprisonment is when a person is incarcerated by law enforcement for a crime that was committed. Unlawful imprisonment is usually false imprisonment, which can take place when a person is physically detained by another person who has no legal right to do so. Locking a person in a closet, tying them to a chair, placing them in the trunk of a car, or holding them in captivity against their will are all forms of imprisonment. Life imprisonment is usually reserved for serious crimes such as murder. Not all countries recognize the sentence of life imprisonment. Those who receive a sentence of life imprisonment can sometimes request parole after a time of serving their sentence.
