It is not as difficult as people think to avoid identity theft fraud, but too many people nowadays are learning after the fact about what to do to accomplish this task. Every day, unsuspecting people in the United States become victims of identity theft fraud, and the numbers add up. Around 9 million people are affected every year after thieves get hold of some of their personal information, such as a credit card or Social Security number, and use it to purchase goods and services, or to take out a bank loan or rent an apartment. Usually, the victims of this theft and fraud have no idea what has been going on until they are notified by a bank or credit card company that someone has been shopping or applying for loans in your name. Identity theft fraud can be prevented by being very careful with your personal information and documents.
