Homicide

A homicide is when one person’s negligence causes the death of another person. A killing such as this may not even be criminal, but it would still be considered a homicide. A non-criminal homicide would be killing someone in self-defense, being the person who throws the switch when a criminal is in the electric chair, or killing one or more people during a war. A person who commits a criminal homicide would be well aware that he was committing an act that was going to kill someone. He or she may have been deliberate, reckless, or negligent in their actions that ended up causing a person’s death. Criminal homicide can be either manslaughter or murder. You can have a felony murder or a capital murder, voluntary and involuntary manslaughter, negligent and criminally negligent homicide, and several other types as well. Non-criminal homicide can be due to a mistake of law, duress, self-defense or in defense of another, entrapment, and other defenses.
