Harassment is generally defined as behavior intended to disturb or upset. It can cover a vast array of behavior, but to be considered a crime, it is generally must include threatening behavior. There are a number of forms of harassment, including sexual harassment, legal harassment, hate speech, bullying, racial harassment, religious harassment, stalking, hazing, or police harassment. The victim may be able to sue the perpetrator if there is evidence of the harassment or discrimination. Victims who can prove physical damage, property loss, or emotional distress may be able to collect compensatory and punitive damages as well.
