Harassment Crime

Criminal harassment is defined as engaging in threatening conduct, which causes a victim to feel frightened, disturbed, oppressed, persecuted, intimidated, or upset, or to feel that his property is in danger. Harassment is considered a gross misdemeanor. Criminal harassment can fall under a number of categories, including staking, sexual harassment, racial harassment, internet harassment, hazing, and police harassment. Intent does not have to be proven in order to prosecute harassment. Generally, the harassment must occur repeatedly. However, if the behavior is blatantly threatening, one incident may be enough to bring criminal charges.
