Graffiti Tagging

Graffiti tagging is popular in the hip-hop culture. A tag is considered the artist’s signature, and can consist of multiple letters of the alphabet styled in many different artistic ways, as well as spray painted pictures. Bright colors are always used, along with stickers. Glass is drawn on/etched with sharp objects, and wide tipped markers, known to the graffiti artists as 44 Magnums, and paint sticks are used to create graffiti tags. When more than one graffiti tagger goes out to do some of their artistry, this is called a crew. An average crew will have anywhere from three to ten members, but crews have been known to have as many as fifty people of both sexes. Females are sometimes enlisted to carry such items as spray paint, as the taggers believe that police officer will search a male before they will a female. Graffiti taggers will work as a team, with some doing the outline of the tag, and others filling in the design. Once they are done with a design, everyone will sign their names to it.
