Forgery

Forgery is any method by which false documents or objects are created with the intention of deceiving and defrauding another person. Having possession of these false documents or objects is also considered forgery. When a forgery of written information is carried out, the intention is to cheat someone, a company, or an organization out of information that is rightfully theirs. This type of forgery is also carried out to acquire money, goods, and services under false pretenses. If it is currency or paper money that is being forged, this audacity is most often known as counterfeiting. Consumer goods such as designer clothing and accessories are often subject to forgery. Literary works, works of art and jewelry are also frequently copied and presented as the real thing when they are actually forgeries. Forgery is a felony offense. The classification of a forgery depends entirely on how severe the crime is.
