Florida Murder

Florida has a Felony Murder rule that many people find to be much too harsh. This Florida murder rule concerns juveniles who have committed a crime or crimes that have put them into prison with a sentence of Life without Parole. Of these young people, 59% were given this sentence for their very first conviction. 26% are serving a Life without Parole sentence for Florida murder when they did not carry a weapon at all. Some citizens in the state of Florida are working together to have this rule changed, and give these young people a second chance at life. If the bill that the citizens are backing passes, juveniles would be considered for parole after 15 years for Florida murder. After the initial 15 years, they would be reconsidered for parole every 3 years. It is believed that a great many of these young people can be reformed. Nowhere else in the world are children under 18 serving sentences of life in prison with parole.
