Ray Stevens made “streaking” a joke in his 1970’s parody “The Streak.” But indecent exposure is a serious crime that could result in felony charges. The crime is defined as exposure of one’s genitals without concern for insulting, offending or in some cases frightening someone. Police can upgrade the charges to felony indecent exposure if: The exposure happened in the presence of a minor; The offender was masturbating at the time of the offense; The offender has a previous conviction for indecent exposure. Since indecent exposure is considered a sexual crime, offenders may be required to register as sex offender. This designation could impact where they live, work and whether or not they could be around children.
