False Accusations

The term "false accusations" is applied in a number of criminal situations. False accusations, sometimes called false allegations, is the providing of false information, including a false police report, to deliberately place someone into trouble. False accusations may refer to false allegations of sexual abuse, sexual harassment or rape. False accusations may also come into play regarding robbery, white-collar crimes and domestic violence. In order for it to be a true case of false accusations, the individual must be deliberately i.e. intentionally, making the accusation. Moreover, the accuser must also know the accused is innocent of the crimes. In Colorado, "making a false report" is the term utilized to describe a false accusation. In this, and many other states, false accusations are a misdemeanor.
