Embezzlement Felony

Embezzlement is considered a white collar crime since it typically occurs in a business environment and is secretive in nature rather than violent. In situations where individuals in positions with access to or accountability for cash, property or other assets steal, hide or conceal part or all of those assets for person gain, embezzlement is typically the charge. In some cases and situations money or other assets are sometimes taken without the owner's or companies knowledge, but with the intent to return or repay. This may happen if an employee takes funds out the cash drawer for an emergency and intends to return the funds with his or her next pay. In these cases embezzlement felony charges are unlikely, especially if the amount is small and the party can make restitution. Most embezzlement felony charges are going to be significant and can result in very steep fines, restitution of the victim's money as well as lengthy jail time. In addition these individuals are highly unlikely to be able to find employment after doing their time since these charges have a significant social stigma.
