DUI Misdemeanor

No matter where you live in the United States, a DUI misdemeanor charge is a serious offense. Even if you think you are the best driver in the world after a few drinks or some drugs, the local police can still pull you over and cite you for DUI, even if the driving ability you displayed was flawless. DUI misdemeanor is a charge given to people who have been stopped for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs for the very first time. The same charge is also given if this happens to be a person’s second or third DUI offense in a certain period of time, generally five to ten years. However, someone who has had several DUI offenses over a period of time that caused injury to another person or to someone’s property may receive a felony DUI instead. A DUI misdemeanor still requires even the first time offender to have to go to jail for a time, as well as pay a relatively stiff fine and perhaps serve probation.
