Drug Abuse Violations

Drug abuse violations are criminal offenses defined as such by state, federal and local authorities. A drug abuse violation occurs when an individual disobeys or breaches state or local laws relating to specific substances. Violations involve different aspects of drug use and the preparation and manufacturing process. These include the growing, making, manufacturing, sale and use of certain drugs. The scale of the operations or the amount of drugs in the individual's possession does not have an effect under American law. There is no distinction between commercial and recreational use. The substances considered under drug abuse violations consist of — but are not restricted to, the following: opium, cocaine and its derivatives including morphine, heroin and codeine, marijuana, synthetic narcotics such as Demerol and methadone and dangerous nonnarcotic drugs such as barbiturates and benzadrine.
