Driving Without A License

Driving without a license is illegal in all places where driver’s licenses are issued for those who want to operate a motor vehicle. If a person drives a vehicle and has never had a driver’s license, has been refused a driver’s license after applying for one, or has had their driver’s license revoked or suspended, then they are guilty of driving without a license. If a person has had a driver’s license, but neglects to have it renewed, they are guilty of the same. This also applies to a person who has moved from another country or state, and does not bother to change his or her license for a current one for the new area. No person has the right to operate a motor vehicle without a license. Many people do get away with driving without a license, especially illegal aliens. However, when a person is caught doing so, the penalties can be surprisingly harsh. The first offense can be a fine of $150 to $200, a year’s suspension of driver’s license (in other words, you cannot go and get a license to get out of the statute charged), and up to 90 days in prison. The second offense of driving without a license can be up to a year in prison, a fine that can range from $200 to $600, and a two-year license suspension.
