One of the most domestic violence laws in the USA was passed in 1994. The United States Congress enacted a law that was a part of what is known as the Crime Bill. This would allow the government to help fight domestic violence. The new law was called the “Violence Against Women Act”, and it helped to bring domestic violence laws to the attention of the American public. This legislation went a long way in helping citizens to realize that such violence is not acceptable, and results in consequences that are known to be detrimental to families and children alike. Other legal statutes exist in all the 50 states that are supplemental domestic violence laws, working in tandem with the Federal laws. There are also Tribal domestic violence laws that can help women who are American Indians. No one should have to live under the threat of domestic violence, and these domestic violence laws are in place to help.
