Domestic Violence Jail

Domestic violence is abuse or neglect that takes place between two parties who are related or who share an intimate relationship. It can also be known as spousal abuse, partner abuse, child abuse, and elder abuse. At one time law enforcement officials handled domestic violence calls with an “intervention” or counseling. However, one study found that in 85% of spousal homicides the victim had been visited by police at least once in the previous two years. Mere police intervention was then replaced by guidelines calling for the arrest of the abuser and the appropriate charges being filed against him or her.
