Each of the 50 United States have made into law child neglect or abuse reporting laws and policies that are mandatory. Each state has a responsibility to protect from neglect or abuse all of the children who live within its boundaries. These state laws make the crucial decision as to when an outside party should intervene into a family’s personal life in order to rescue children from danger. Child abuse laws depend on proper reporting from people who are in the position to notice whether or not a child is being neglected or abused. Reports of mistreatment are what saves the life of many children. When a simple report can result in discovering 903,000 children are being mistreated by adults, it makes sense to call in a report to the authorities, even if it may feel a bit silly to do so. Child abuse laws are making a difference in our society as a whole every day.
