Burglary Sentence

As a general definition burglary includes breaking and entering into a building with the intent to remove items that are not yours or commit a crime. In many states the definition is actually much broader in scope and can include entering any building at any time for the purpose of committing a criminal act. Some states define crossing a threshold with intent to commit a crime as a burglary, even if there was no break and enter or any type of forceful entry. There are specific types of burglary charges such as burglary of a habitation, which is considered a felony in most areas if people are home at the time of the incident. Burglary of a commercial business is typically not considered as significant unless it is what is known as a protected business. These types of businesses include banks, pharmacies, schools or government buildings. In these types of incidents the burglary sentence is usually a felony, regardless of the value of the items taken or intended to be removed.
