Bribery

The term bribery is used to describe the process of giving or taking bribes. This simply means that an individual is offering something in order to gain something illicit in return. Money is a common type of bribery. An individual may offer money to another person in an effort to gain some type of advantage. That advantage is some illegal occurrence, such as stealing, lying, or breaking other criminal laws. A bribery is a criminal charge and may lead to significant punishment, depending on the type of bribery occurring. In some situations, it can be considered a felony charge, if the value of the bribe or the outcome of the bribe is considered elevated or aggravated.
