Battery Charges

Battery charges are different in the areas of the world where battery is considered a crime. These areas include the United States, Wales, and England. In any area that has what is known as common law, battery is considered to be bodily harm that one person causes to another. This is the basic premise of battery for the countries listed above as well. Battery is not separated into different types in England and Wales except for actual and grievous bodily harm. England and Wales call this crime a summary offence, and battery charges are no more than 6 months, a fine no more than Level 5, or both. In the United States, battery charges are misdemeanors. The jail term depends upon the type of battery. Simple battery, aggravated battery, sexual battery, and family violence battery are all recognized battery charge types in the United States.
