Aggravated Battery

Aggravated battery can mean different things depending upon where you live. However, it is generally a serious felony crime, and results in another human being becoming disfigured on a permanent basis, such as losing an eye, a hand, or a leg. Aggravated battery can stem from a vocal argument that turns physical, and is referred to in some state jurisdictions as aggravated assault. Some say there is a difference in battery and assault. They claim assault is most definitely a crime of violence against another human, whereas a case of battery involving two people could be simply a slap in the face from one person to the other. Others consider any act done with the express intent of causing injury to another person. Aggravated battery is not accidental! There are other locations in the United States who insist that the element of fear must be included in order for an aggravated battery charge to stick. This element can include the use of a weapon. No matter where you live, aggravated battery will definitely get you arrested, and can possibly lead to fines and jail time as well.
