An accessory to an armed robbery is a person who has in some way helped in an armed robbery, or a robbery occurring with some type of deadly weapon, such as a gun. As an accessory, the individual may not have participated in the actual theft, however they had knowledge of the crime and failed to report it to the proper authorities. An accessory may aid in various ways, including commanding or directing the crime, aiding in the access to the crime scene, providing information to the criminals, driving the criminal to the scene or away from it, or hiding the criminal after the crime was committed. An accessory is not the prime individual committing the crime.
